Dear Fellow
Educator,
Science is a
process of investigating and not writing or reading. Yet,
science teachers are assigning writing and reading
homework at an alarming rate. These assignments, in place of
laboratory work and demonstrations, are nothing
more than busy work and a sure sign that the science
teacher isn't prepared to teach.
A
true science teacher knows and understands the subject so well
that they can teach it without the
book. They can bring science to life with a demonstration, an
activity or lab.
The
true science teacher uses writing and reading as tools for
recording keeping and organization but not as the main
instruction.
Science
should be active and fun not tedious and dry. If
science isn't one of the most interesting classes on campus the
science teachers are failing.
Whether it
is an actual lab activity, mini-lab or table challenge students
should have the opportunity to do science not just read
about it.
Effective Science
Activities, was developed to help
teachers create "budget friendly" lab activities that encourage
curiosity and incorporate scientific as well as critical
thinking skills.

Your Success, Darrell Causey
